Trundle up to Wimmera Hills Winery and get a warm welcome. Jane and Benjamin Baker established the winery in 2000 and all wines are made on the premises hand picked from the vines.
The vineyard is high in the upper reaches of the Wimmera basin where grazing country meets rugged forest. Sparse soil over shattered sandstone; this is the Pyrenees Ranges where great shiraz is born.
Get out and breathe the fresh air with beautiful walks to enchanted valleys, or challenging mountain bike tracks. Finish the day by tasting Benjamin's carefully handmade wines.
In winter try a mulled wine made with Smoking Bishop syrup. You must taste the very special sparkling shiraz.
Stay the night in the gorgeous cottage at Wimmera Hills Winery. You will want to stop a while on the sun-filled veranda and muse over the large mob of kangaroos which come down from the hills to graze in the paddocks around the cottage. The self-contained cottage comfortably sleeps two, but can accommodate up to four people.
