The annual Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim is set to make a splash with competitors taking on the 1.5 kilometre and 3 kilometre swims, as well as a shorter 500 metre distance swim.
This unique Great Barrier Reef competition takes place on the leeward side of the island with each leg of the event offering a variety of conditions from shallows to wind chop and tidal flow. Water temperatures around this time of year average 24 degrees with air temperatures around 28 degrees.
The Great Adventures Green Island Swim is a community event and is supported by Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Cairns Crocs.
Race Information:
The 500 metre, 1.5 kilometre and 3 kilometre swims are open to swimmers 12-years and over. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place overall for men and women in the 1.5 kilometre and 3 kilometre events. Prizes will also be presented to 500 metre swimmers. A nipper’s/beginner’s swim will take place on a course parallel to the beach. Registration is on the day and is free of charge....
