The Cairns Surf Life Saving Club is one of the oldest Surf Life Saving clubs in Queensland, having been formed in 1924 as a volunteer organization to patrol the Northern Beaches of Cairns. Originally patrolling the Cairns Esplanade, the club moved to YorkeyÂ’s Knob before moving to the Northern end of Palm Cove in 1953. It is one of only three clubs in Queensland that has freehold ownership of its land. Cairns SLSC maintains its voluntary patrols of the beach on weekends and public holidays from April to November.
