Join some of Melbourne’s finest historically informed expert musicians for a selection of enchanting Baroque gems. Rachael Beesley is an internationally renowned Australian violinist, director and concertmaster, much in demand as a chamber musician.
For this program, she has hand-picked cellist Natasha Kraemer and theorbist Simon Martyn-Ellis (recently returned to Australia from Europe). Substantial pieces of pure ensemble music sit alongside shining solo works, including Biber’s charming Sonata Representativa, in which the violin imitates the sounds of various creatures including a nightingale, a frog, a cat, and a squad of musketeers.
